Questions about localhost:5601

What is port 5601?
The default port of Kibana.
Why does Kibana say server is not ready?
It cannot connect to Elasticsearch yet. Check Elasticsearch and its credentials.
Is localhost:5601 safe?
Yes while it stays on localhost. Tools like this often show sensitive data, so keep them off the public internet and put a login in front of them if other people can reach the port.
Can I use a different port instead of 5601?
Yes. Pick a free port above 1024, set it in the program, and open that number instead. If other programs connect to this port, change it there as well.
How do I check what is using port 5601?
Use the port checker on this page. It shows the command for Windows, macOS and Linux and does not send anything to this site.
