Router Login Page Not Opening? Fix It Step by Step

A checklist for when 192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.1 or any router admin page will not load, in the order that fixes it fastest.

When the router page will not open, the cause is usually the wrong address, the wrong network, or something blocking the connection. Work through these checks in order.

A browser that cannot reach the router page, next to a checklist: right address, same network, http first, VPN off

Check in this order

  1. Make sure you are connected to this router by Wi-Fi or cable. Mobile data will not work.
  2. Confirm the address with the router IP finder. Do not guess.
  3. Type http:// and the address in the address bar. Check for typos such as the letter l instead of 1.
  4. Try another browser, or a private window, to rule out the cache.
  5. Turn off any VPN, proxy or DNS tool for a moment.
  6. Use a LAN cable instead of Wi-Fi.
  7. If you have two routers, connect to the one you want. The inner router has a different address from the ISP one.
  8. Restart the router by unplugging it for 30 seconds.
  9. Reset the router only as a last resort. See the reset guide first.

Questions people ask about Login not working

Why does my router page not open on my phone?
Phones may be on mobile data, a guest network, or a VPN. Turn those off and reconnect to the main Wi-Fi.
Does a factory reset fix it?
Sometimes, but it erases your settings and can remove your ISP details. Try the other checks first.
