How to log in to your Airtel router
- Connect your phone or computer to the Airtel Wi-Fi or a LAN port.
- Open http://192.168.1.1 in a browser.
- Enter the username and password printed on the back of the router.
- Open the Wi-Fi settings, change the name or the pre-shared key, and save.
- If you use your own router behind the Airtel one, give it a different LAN range such as 192.168.0.x or 192.168.2.x.
If it will not open
- The label login is rejected
- The installation technician may have changed the password. A factory reset restores the label values but erases your settings.
- Two routers on the same range
- If your own router also uses 192.168.1.x, change its LAN address to avoid a conflict with the Airtel device.
- A search page opens instead of the router
- Type http:// before the address, and type it in the address bar, not the search box.
- The browser warns “not secure”
- Many routers use plain http or a self-signed certificate, so the warning is normal on your own router. Do not click through it on public Wi-Fi.
- Wrong username or password
- The admin password is not your Wi-Fi password. Check the router label. If you changed it and forgot it, see the reset guide.
- The page loads forever
- A VPN, a proxy or a second router in between can block it. Turn off the VPN and try a LAN cable. If you put your own router behind the ISP one, the ISP router has a different address from your own.
How to keep your router secure
- Change the default admin password and use a long one that you do not use anywhere else.
- Keep the router firmware up to date.
- Turn off remote management unless you really need it.
- Use WPA2 or WPA3 for Wi-Fi.
