Cron Expression Explainer: Plain English and Next Run Times

Paste a cron expression to see what it means in plain English and when it will run next. Checks ranges, steps, names and @daily-style shortcuts.

Type a five-field cron expression, such as */5 * * * *, or a shortcut like @daily. You get a plain English sentence, a clear error if something is wrong, and the next five run times in your browser’s time zone.

Minute, hour, day of month, month, day of week. Shortcuts like @daily work too.

Frequently asked questions

What do the five cron fields mean?
In order: minute, hour, day of month, month and day of week.
What happens when both day fields are set?
Standard cron runs the job when either one matches. For example, 0 0 1 * 1 runs on the 1st of the month and on every Monday.
Which time zone does cron use?
The server’s time zone. The next run times here use your browser’s time zone, so they can differ from your server.
Does it support @reboot and @daily?
Yes for the common shortcuts. @reboot has no schedule: it runs once when the system starts.

Runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to this site. Updated 2026-10-03.
