QR Code Generator: Free QR Codes for Links, Wi-Fi, Contacts and Text
Make a QR code for a link, text, Wi-Fi login, contact, email, SMS, phone number or map location. Choose colors, add a logo, download PNG or SVG.
Choose what the code is for, fill in the fields and the QR code appears at once. Download it as a PNG for screens and documents or as an SVG for printing at any size. The codes are static: they hold your data directly, never expire and do not go through any service.
What it does
- Seven kinds of code: text or link, Wi-Fi network, contact card (vCard), email, text message, phone number and map location.
- Four error-correction levels (L, M, Q, H) and the smallest version that fits is chosen automatically, up to the full QR size limit.
- Handles any language and emoji (UTF-8), and uses the compact numeric and alphanumeric modes when it can.
- Colors, transparent background, quiet border and image size are adjustable, with a warning if the colors will not scan.
- Optional logo in the middle (the code switches to the highest error correction).
- Download PNG or SVG. SVG is vector, so it stays sharp at any print size.
- Codes are static, with no tracking, scan counter or expiry.
Always scan the finished code with a phone before you print or publish it, especially with a logo or custom colors. Dark dots on a light background scan best.
Frequently asked questions
- Is the QR code free and permanent?
- Yes. It is a static code: your text is stored in the pattern itself, so it never expires and there is no account. Services that show scan statistics use dynamic codes that point to their server, which stop working if you stop paying.
- Is my data sent anywhere?
- No. The code is built in your browser. Wi-Fi passwords and contact details stay on your device.
- What is error correction?
- QR codes carry extra data so they still scan when partly dirty or covered. Higher levels survive more damage but make the code denser. M (15%) suits most uses, H (30%) is best for stickers, outdoor use or a logo.
- How much can a QR code hold?
- About 7,000 digits, 4,000 letters and symbols (uppercase alphanumeric) or 2,900 bytes of ordinary text at the lowest correction level. The page tells you if your text is too long. Shorter text makes a simpler code that scans faster.
- Why will my code not scan?
- The usual causes are low contrast, light dots on a dark background, a missing quiet border (keep 4 modules), printing too small, or a logo that covers too much. Try higher error correction and make it larger.
- How do I make a Wi-Fi QR code?
- Choose Wi-Fi network, enter the name and password and pick the security type. Phones that scan it offer to join the network. Use the same security type as your router (WPA for almost all modern routers).
- PNG or SVG?
- Use PNG for web pages, slides and documents. Use SVG for print, signs and anything that must stay sharp when enlarged.
