Paste your CSV or open a .csv file. The first row becomes the key names, and each following row becomes a JSON object. Commas, semicolons, tabs and pipes are detected for you, and quoted values that contain commas or line breaks are read correctly.
What it does
- Reads quoted values, including commas, double quotes and line breaks inside them.
- Detects comma, semicolon, tab or pipe separators.
- Handles Windows and Mac line endings and a leading byte order mark.
- Keeps IDs such as 007 or 02134 as text, so leading zeros are not lost.
- Keeps numbers longer than 15 digits as text, because JSON numbers lose accuracy beyond that.
- Renames empty or repeated column names and tells you when rows have a different number of values.

- How are numbers handled?
- With "Convert numbers" on, plain numbers become JSON numbers. Values with leading zeros and very long numbers stay as text so nothing is changed by mistake.
- What if a row has too few or too many values?
- Missing values are left empty. Extra values get keys named column_4, column_5 and so on. A note under the result tells you how many rows were uneven.
- Does it work without a header row?
- Untick "First row is the header" and each row becomes a list of values instead of an object.
- Is my data uploaded?
- No. The conversion runs in your browser and nothing is sent to this site.
- How big a file can it handle?
- Files up to 8 MB. Very large files may be slow, depending on your device.
