Hash Generator: SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512

Create SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 hashes of any text in your browser.

Type or paste text and the four hashes update as you type. The text is hashed as UTF-8 by your browser and never leaves your device.

Frequently asked questions

Can a hash be reversed?
No. A hash is one-way, but short or common inputs can be guessed, so do not rely on a plain hash for passwords.
Is MD5 here?
No. The browser does not provide MD5, and it is not safe for security use. SHA-256 is a good default.
Why is my hash different from a file checksum?
A file hash covers the file bytes. This tool hashes the text you type, and an extra space or new line changes the result.

Runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to this site. Updated 2026-10-11.
